Christmas Gifts

Today's newspaper is filled with advertisements for gifts we can buy for our loved ones (and ourselves) this Christmas --- from dolls to diamonds, food to furnishings, clothes to cameras.....

Yet all I can see is the $$$ sign! Yeah ---- everything costs money!

Would Christmas be sad if the kids don't get a new toy?
Would Christmas be boring if we don't go shopping or clubbing?
Would Christmas be empty if there's no turkey and ham for dinner?

Anyway, I've decided this Christmas my gifts will be different. I want to give......

THE GIFT OF TIME --- I will take a friend to the beach and give her a break from the daily struggles of a single mum

THE GIFT OF TOUCH --- I will go with some friends to a Nursing Home and appreciate the staff and the caregivers with song and cheer

THE GIFT OF THOUGHT --- I will write notes of affirmation and encouragement and gratefulness to people who have come into my life (and some who have moved out of my life)

And then perhaps on Christmas night, I will receive for myself, the gift of the true meaning of Christmas!
