What a vision!

I was at Bright Vision Hospital yesterday.

To be quite honest, I wasn't sure what to expect ---- a friend was living out her last days, hours...in the serenity and stillness of the ward named PEACE. How appropriate!

But more than that, I was touched by the help and support the staff gave to the 'to-be' grieving family.

The nurses who were walking in and out, dutifully and beautifully doing the necessary procedures, continually encouraged me to pray for my friend. There was no prejudice nor inclination to any particular religion ---- just pray!

There was a 'Pastoral Care Staff" at hand, explaining many times over the anticipated event and the things that needed to be done thereafter.
(Hey.....and I had always thought the word 'pastor' belongs only to those who wear a 'dog collar' and wear an invisible halo over their head!)

The undertaker was contacted and he turned up to prepare the family for the situation.
Of course, we can be cynical and conclude it's all in the name of business or job requirements that these folks perform their tasks.

But I know, I don't want to do their job!!!

They have a heart that is different from mine.
They have a sincere compassion for those who need palliative care.
They have a genuine concern for the grieving and the dying.

I truly honor them.
