Do Not Reverse!

I was at a funeral service last week at the crematorium. Everything was in place in the hall....but the pastor who was conducting the service had not arrived!

We waited anxiously (and embarrassingly!) until we could see through the glass opening that the next coffin in line with the grieving family was waiting outside for their turn to occupy the hall.
Someone then announced that the pastor had had an accident on the way to the crematorium. She was alone driving and had put "reverse" instead of "forward" gear when the traffic light turned green. The boot of her car smashed into the car behind her. (Was the other driver too close?) But she was not hurt. And she was making her way in a taxi to the crematorium.

Phew! Was this a case of bad news and good news --- all in the same breath???

As life has many lessons in it, I learnt a couple of things from this incident for this new year:
1. go forward - don't reverse
--- if 2006 was filled with disappointments, regrets, hurts, etc, don't go back to all
that vomit! Move on with determination, renewal, hope!

2. take responsibility - don't blame others
--- we bear the consequences of our own actions, even when others around us
affect our life

3. move in unity - don't be a loner
--- even if we think we are capable and able to do things more efficiently and unhindered by having others around us, we need to appreciate the importance of community spirit and togetherness, for safety and support!
