Valuable Values

After reading my son's great description of his mom, I thought I'd better live up to it and blog more regularly!

So here's today's reflection:

Why do parents expect their kid to have admirable values
when their own life often does not exemplify the values
they hope the kid will develop? ? ?

Parents teach........
respect (for people and things)
but they yell at the maid and read their kid's diary secretly,

courtesy
but they jump queue and scramble in the crowd at a SALE,

honesty
but they tell you to say they're not at home when their friend
calls on the phone,

compassion
but they ignore the guy with special needs selling packets of
tissue at the food center,

sense of responsibility
but they are busy at work and never home when you need a
shoulder to cry on,

self-discipline
but they eat half a tub of ice-cream while watching the Korean
serial,

obedience
but they go through the red traffic light and cross the road when
it's the 'red man',

gratefulness
but they grumble and complain about work, people and food!

So, if you're a parent,
walk your talk.....

YOUR KID IS WATCHING AND TAILING YOU !
